Forest Society Careers

The Forest Society offers rewarding career opportunities for those who want to help save New Hampshire's landscapes and preserve its quality of life.

We do not have any active job postings at this time.

We are currently accepting applications for the following position(s):

Land Protection Associate

Land Protection Associate (GIS & Field Position)

The Forest Society seeks an enthusiastic, well-organized, articulate, and motivated individual for the full-time position of Land Protection Associate (GIS & Field Position) to assist the Society's six land protection specialists in the acquisition (by gift and purchase) of conservation lands and conservation easements. The successful candidate will have a bachelor's degree in forestry, natural resources, environmental sciences, or a related field, proficiency with GIS, excellent communication skills, and a love for the outdoors.

This is a full time position based at the Conservation Center in Concord, NH. The Land Protection Associate will work closely with all land protection staff and is responsible for completing various tasks involved in the acquisition of conservation lands and conservation easements. Specific tasks include preparation of baseline documentation reports, natural resource maps, hazardous waste evaluations of land, and boundary identification among other tasks. The Land Protection Associate position involves significant field work and GIS mapping. Additionally, in-state travel is required as well as some limited evening and weekend work. The position requires hiking alone in often remote, sometimes rugged terrain for up to a full day, and meeting sometimes with the landowner or others.

The Forest Society consistently ranks among the nation's top land trusts and has been a leader in setting the standard for American land protection. If you enjoy working both independently and in a cooperative team-approach in a challenging, at times fast-paced, but always rewarding setting you may be the right person for this position.

If you are interested in becoming a member of the dedicated Forest Society staff, e-mail or otherwise provide a resume and cover letter by September 12, 2008 to or to Director of Land Conservation, SPNHF, 54 Portsmouth Street, Concord, NH 03301.

Salary will be commensurate with experience and skills. The Forest Society offers an excellent benefits package and an extraordinary office environment in our award-winning, energy-efficient suite of office buildings overlooking the adjacent Merrimack River Conservation Area.
