New Hampshire Senator Bob Odell Donates Conservation Easement on Land in Lempster

New Hampshire Senator Bob Odell has donated a conservation easement on 88.5 acres in Lempster, New Hampshire. 

Odell explained that after he toured the Forest Society’s Ashuelot River Headwaters project, also located in Lempster, he and his late wife Sandy decided to donate a conservation easement on their property. It was very important to Sandy to make sure that their land was protected, Bob said.

This picturesque property contains more than 2,140 feet of frontage on Hurd Pond Road and includes nearly 30 acres of prime agricultural soils currently maintained as open hay fields. Odell’s land also includes the northern half of Hurd Pond, a shallow warm water pond favored by waterfowl, beaver, otter, mink, and other wildlife that depend upon both the pond itself and the surrounding wetlands and forest for food and shelter. 

This conservation easement will also protect 60 acres of soils ranked as the highest suitability category for forest products. The property’s well-managed woodlands are a registered Tree Farm managed by a local forester Don Clifford. The property is also located only a short distance from other conservation lands on which the Forest Society holds an easement.
